And only hours later, I remember I didn’t even wish you a happy birthday… How dumb of me. Well, ok then, a belated: “happy birthday, Selzisims”.

    Thanks so much, everyone! :D

@Anna: Ja, genau - das hab ich mir zumindest vorgenommen, weil ich keine einzige schöne Brille für Kinder habe … :)

@Simenroute: And thank you for fixing this Prida mesh! I was going to do it myself until I discovered your stylish glasses at DLMulsow that use the fixed version … :)

    Hi Selzi,

First, in-game these specs really look marvelous! Thanks for making your art-work available to us.

Strangely enough, even with the ‘fixed’ meshes, something strange is going on in my game, as well as that of my friend (who has exactly the same set-up as me).

Everything looks well, until we save a lot and later reload it: suddenly all glasses seem to have lost their mesh; they all turn flashing blue. After we send each single Sim to a mirror to change appearance, the glasses pick up their mesh and everything is great. Until we save and reload…

It’s as if the game doesn’t save glasses correctly. It forgets about the mesh that belongs to them until we re-select the glasses from the ‘makeover’ screen.

Also, the game doesn’t correctly recognize any of your glasses as real glasses. Sims can wear any pair of Maxis glasses AND a pair of yours at the same time!

If there is anything that can be done about this, that would be great!

    Thanks again,

    FreeBee

Hm, that’s weird - I’ll pay attention to the glasses in my game if this happens to me as well. According to HP’s tutorial the mesh should be fixed - but I’ll ask someone who knows how to fix such things if I repaired the mesh correctly!

Is it possible that you have an unfixed duplicate of the mesh somewhere in your Downloads folder? Maybe the game picks the wrong one in that case?

Also, the game doesn’t correctly recognize any of your glasses as real glasses. Sims can wear any pair of Maxis glasses AND a pair of yours at the same time!

Oh yes, that’s an issue with the mesh. I’m afraid that I don’t know how to fix this. I guess the game treats the mesh like those of earrings (just like it’s possible to wear Maxis glasses and earrings at the same time). If someone who reads this can point me to a tutorial I would be really grateful! :D

I’m glad I can help in my own humble way, Selzi. :D

I’ve done a search for all Meshes in my downloads, and the only one pertaining to eyeglasses seems to be ‘Prida-eyeglasses02-noflash-MESH.package’

I picked it up from the link you supplied, so it should be correct, right?

  9. selziam 17. März 2009 um 02:41

Ah, now I understand. That mesh was supposedly fixed by simenroute, so I grabbed it and uploaded it. Nevertheless I still had the same problem like you and your friend - my glasses worked fine when my sims went to the mirror, but after reloading the lot they flashed blue once again.

That was the moment when I decided to fix the glasses myself. I found a tutorial by HystericalParoxysm and opened the glasses mesh in SimPE. I discovered that certain things were missing, and I repaired the mesh like HP described. After that I reuploaded the fixed mesh and wrote something about it in the news - here:

    http://www.meilow.de/selzisims/updates-vom-10-marz-2009/

After that my glasses have worked fine so far. When I read your earlier comment I thought at first that you were using my fixed version - that would have meant that I had made a mistake somewhere. I hope that the flashing blue issue will be resolved with the really fixed mesh now! ;)

Ah, silly me missed that update!

I’ll replace the old mesh right away, and make sure my friend gets this one too.

Thank you so very much, Selzi. You’re the best!

    I should be so ashamed…

In stead of clicking the “Download Mesh” link, I originally clicked the link to Stonetower, and picked it up from MTS2… I’m such a dumb Dutchman, I should never make jokes about the Belgians again! :D

    :ashamed:

  12. selziam 17. März 2009 um 09:55

Hahahaha, I didn’t know that the Dutch make fun of the Belgians. Does this work the other way around as well? That would only be fair … *LOL* And I’m glad that this mesh problem could be resolved. Normally it’s not a bad thing to download the original mesh, but of course my modifications can’t work then … ;)

  13. FreeBeeam 17. März 2009 um 14:08

As we tell jokes about the Belgians being dumb, they tell jokes about us being cheap: “On a bitter cold morning during winter, a Dutchman is standing at his doorstep, boiled egg in hand, waiting for the salt-truck to come by.”

Ofcourse, your modifications couldn’t work, since I thought I’d be smart!

  14. selziam 18. März 2009 um 18:42

*LOL @ the greedy dutchman* Now I wonder what’s worse - being dumb or being cheap … ;)
